Business analysts identify the business needs of their clients and stakeholders and help to craft solutions to business problems. Business analysts develop and manage requirements. Specifically, business analysts elicit, analyze, validate, and document business, organizational, and operational requirements. Business analysts approach requirements impartially. They are not driven by predetermined attitudes or solutions. The solutions business analysts help to create often involve systems development, but they may also frequently involve process improvement and organizational change. Business analysts are important facilitators assembling key data and providing clear communication that bridges the interests of clients, stakeholders, and solution team. Business analysis is not financial analysis, project management, quality assurance, organizational development, testing, or training and documentation development. The responsibilities of any individual business analyst, however, may entail some or all of these functions. Currently there is no cost to join the Columbus Ohio Chapter. We may begin collecting chapter dues at some point during 2010 and the likely cost will be in the $20 - $40 range annually, depending upon our sponsorship and planned events. |
